After another case of an excessively large vehicle trying to pass along East End Lane, details have been provided by the Parish Clerk of new signs that are proposed for each end of the Lane.   Our thanks to John Bacon for passing on this news.

John has provided photos of the recent incident - copies can be viewed by clicking on the link below.  The vehicle was from Crown Transport and making for Ridgeview Wines.  As can be seen, it was totally unsuitable for the narrow lane and had ignored the 7.5 tonne limit sign at the end of the lane.

In response to this incident on 26 June, Michelle Warner (Parish Clerk) advised “East Sussex highways have already agreed that the Parish Council can erect additional signage at East End Lane. It is proposed that sat nav error signs as per the attached are erected at either end of the lane. This item was discussed at the Parish Council meeting yesterday evening and it was decided that the views of residents would be sought and the Ditchling Society consulted.  If you could please respond with your recommendations and share this proposed signage with your neighbours I would be grateful.”

An example of the proposed signs is shown in the photo above.  Comments to Michelle Warner can be sent by email to ditchlingpc@btinternet.com.
